Nepali Food: What's the Chia (Tea)?

As I continue my journey, I hope I'll be cooking a lot more!

Is this food connected to the local environment? How?:

Food is absolutely  connected to the surrounding environment. The most popular dish dhal bhat is eaten multiple times a day by Nepali families because it is simple, nutritious, and filling meal that can be made with locally grown rice and lentils. There are many rice paddy fields around Nepal, as rice is a staple food in the country.

When I eat with my Nepali host family, we usually eat off large brass plates. We use our hands to eat, which can be difficult if you are used to spoons and forks, but leaves behind less dishes to clean! Now I can eat dhal bhat with my hands without making too much of a mess. In Nepal, you also have to finish your plate. No food scraps left behind! It is a fun time eating with friends and my host family here. I plan on enjoying many more meals and cups of chia with them!
