Namaste! My name is Anjalee and I grew up in the suburbs of Philadelphia, PA. I went to Germantown Academy (GA) from third grade until I graduated high school in 2018. While I was at GA, I was always interested in learning about the different cultures and regions of the world. After high school I went to college at the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia, PA and studied International Relations, a blend of history, economics and political science. While in college, I also decided I wanted to become a doctor, so I could work with patients. I wanted to tie together my interests, which is how I became involved in global health research.

In my first year of college, I travelled for research to The Gambia in Western Africa for two months and led a child health and nutrition survey. It was the longest I had ever been away from home before! Later in college and medical school I travelled to the Dominican Republic for two summers, working with doctors and running more research surveys in a rural children's health clinic. I enjoyed learning new languages, trying local foods, and getting to experience life with people in these countries. These trips inspired me to keep working in global health as a medical student.
