Bhaktapur, Nepal: The Story So Far!

Outside of research, I spend time exploring Bhaktapur City and the rest of Kathmandu Valley. I’ve climbed the 365 steps to Swayambhunath Stupa, also called the Monkey Temple, where monkeys run around everywhere.  I also bought a bansuri, a traditional bamboo flute, to learn to play. I started learning to play flute in third-grade at GA and still love playing! One day, I even tried pottery in Bhaktapur’s famous Pottery Square. Another thing I’ve gotten used to here is drinking a lot of chia, or tea. People drink it all the time -- at work, at home or just when sitting with friends. My record so far is six cups in one day!

Life in Nepal is full of adventure. The mountains surround the valley with amazing views, and there is always something new to learn or try. Sometimes I do miss home, but I also love experiencing life in Bhaktapur and learning all about Nepal. I can’t wait to share more of my journey with you!
