This is my apartment building. It's very new, and I live on the top floor so I have a really good view of the city!
This is Ekaterinburg's Opera and Ballet theatre. Did you know that Russia is very famous for its ballet? I just saw an opera here last week, and I want to see a ballet soon!
This is Храм на крови (Khram na kro-vee), which means Church on the Blood. This church was built on the place where Russia's royal family was shot in 1918 after the October Revolution. The Bolsheviks overthrew the royal family and founded the Soviet Union
This is Ekaterinburg City Hall. It's a very interesting building. What do you notice about it?
The main building of my university, Ural Federal University. This year we celebrated its 99th birthday.
Ekaterinburg is located in Sverdlovsk Oblast (which means province or region). This building is where the executive branch of the regional government works, like a state capital building in the US. Locals call it "the Tooth." Can you see why?
This is the Yeltsin Center, a large community center dedicated to Russia's first elected president, Boris Yeltsin. He became president after the collapse of the Soviet Union in 1991, and he was from Ekaterinburg!
Check out this colorful Russian Orthodox church. Sometimes you discover the coolest buildings when you decide to take a detour down a new side street!
