Chao, Costa Rica!

I’ve met so many people from around the world by becoming friends with other international students and making friends in coffee shops. I’ve learned from getting drenched in the rain and having my phone stolen how to be cautious and prepared. And most importantly I’ve learned how to have a good time by myself, and how to be okay with traveling to a new place without knowing anyone.

When I had the dream to travel abroad in Costa Rica, I didn’t know how to make it happen, I just knew that I would. Thankfully, there’s a lot of people who want to see students like you and me succeed, people that believe in passionate learning, and people who know that experiencing how other people live will make you a kinder, smarter person. They helped get me here and I will always be grateful for that. I want you all to know that if you ask for help, take advantage of all your opportunities and put hard work into the things you care about, you can truly do anything.

I have a couple more challenges ahead of me. Next week I’m hiking to the tallest peak in Costa Rica, so high up that you can see both the Caribbean and the Pacific Ocean.  But my final, and perhaps, the hardest challenge will be saying goodbye to this country and its people that have taught me so much, and that I have grown to love.

But I know that my adventures aren’t over. I have caught the travel bug! Maybe you’ll see me somewhere else around the world soon. Thank you for following my adventure, it has been a pleasure sharing it with you!

Love, Apo
