Traveler Bio

Allillanchu! Greetings! My name is Ashley, and I'm a senior at Franklin & Marshall College in Lancaster, Pennslyvania. I an originally from Los Angeles, California, though, where I grew up. I love reading and adding new music to my playlists. I also grew up involved in community service, protests, and youth advocacy, and those things are still very important to me. After I graduated from high school, I moved to Pennslyvania to study public policy, government, history, and environmental studies because all these subjects relate to equity and community empowerment.

I planned my study abroad in Peru so that I can get real-world experience of the political atmosphere of another country besides the U.S. This semester I am working on a research project that investigates the obstacles indigenous peoples face in their efforts to participate in Peru's democracy. My family is from Peru, so this project and my trip abroad are very special and personal to me! As I travel around Peru and conduct my research, I am excited to be able to share this wonderful country and culture with you, too. Let's go!
