Meet Martha, My Host Mom!

Eventually, if you put in the effort, you will see them again.

What language(s) do you speak? How do you say "Hello" in your language?:

Spanish is my first language. "hola" means "hello" in Spanish. Apart from that, I speak a little bit of English and a little bit of French. I studied both of them when I was young. My siblings and I used to go to the French Alliance because they would host fun events for language learners.

Do you have pets?:

I do not have pets, but the neighbor's cat visits my art workshop often. His name is Richie.

Have you traveled? Where have you traveled to?:

I have traveled to Spain two or three times. The Spanish cities I have visited are Madrid, Barcelona, Valencia, some small towns south of Valencia and Andalucía. I have also been to New York a long time ago, and Miami, too. Here in America, I have visited Ecuador, Brazil, Chile and Argentina. Brazil has been my favorite place to visit.

What do you do for work?:

I work as an arts professor. I give workshops to children and adults. I used to work for private schools, but now that I am retired, I dedicate most of my time to my art workshop. I am proud of running my own business.

Is there anything else you would like to say to students in the United States?:

I would love for you all to come and visit Uruguay!
