Our professor told us early on that we would be taking an Italian cooking class, and I looked forward in great aniticipation to the experience. It was a chance to become more immersed in Italian culture and to learn in a hands-on way how one of its most famous dishes is made.
My class made gnocchi from scratch, which involves combining potato and dough into tiny little balls. Gnocchi is a kind of dumpling, served like pasta with a sauce, and it's delicious! Making it was really easy, and the ingredients were so fresh.
The gnocchi was much thicker than I expected, but the meal tasted delicious and filling nonetheless.
To make the gnocchi, we started by boiling the potatoes. Next, we let the potatoes cool slightly and then we peeled them. Next, we made the gnocchi dough and rolled the dough out into ropes. We then cut the ropes, formed the gnocchi by shaping it into dumplings, and boiled it. Then we were ready to eat!
