Even today, when you walk through a piazza, you will see large friend groups from school, coworkers or large families socializing. I have written about this culture before, whether in my study of the cafe "bar" or the overall dining culture, but it is symbolic of the origins of Florence. Studying the history of this city is exciting because you can walk outside and see evidence of everything you have learned. Even the crest of each guild that commissioned a building can still be seen on the facade, carved in stone!
