Some friends and I watched the sunset at the Piazzale Michaelangelo. This is a beautiful terrace that looks over Florence, with a long staircase of marble for people to sit on and a gorgeous layout of trees and views. This was an evening where it finally wasn't raining, so we could watch the sunset perfectly over Florence. While it was a little crowded, it was magical to walk up the long hill through the trees, watching the sun go down and the moon rise high into the sky.
Earlier in the week, I took a walk around the Boboli Gardens. Many museums offer free admission on the first Sunday of the month. This is a very romantic place, and it makes up the large greenery behind the Pitti Palace. I wasn't able to enjoy the full extent of the gardens due to another commitment later that day, but there were many beautiful bits and pieces like a trimmed maze, a long trellis of vines that you can walk beneath and a downhill hike through the woods. When I return for my 'Palaces of Florence' course, I will take in every detail!
