A Beautiful Three Course Hungarian Meal

Dry, tastelesss, salad greens automatically make me feel unpleasant and unimpressed, though I know plenty of people who love salad no matter the dressing. I am proud of myself for trying it and the pears that were on it. I can't remember the last time I tried a pear! It reminded me of an apple, but again more sour than I was expecting. I had never seen a salad with pears either. I did, however, eat all the goat cheese that was on the salad. That was very yummy. Goat cheese is soft and crumbly in the mouth, and though it also has a strange taste, I do really like the texture. I will always prefer foods that melt in my mouth or that have a soft texture.

Lastly, the somlói galuska was sweet and, when dipped in the chocolate syrup, very rich. It was the perfect way to end the meal. I love a sweet treat and always believe in saving room for dessert!

How is the food prepared?:

Goulash is a soup that has more solid parts than broth. It contains beef, onions, potatoes, and carrots, and uses the Hungarian spice paprikás. Paprika is made from dried and ground red pepper. There are spicy and sweet versions of the spice. This dish was in the middle, neither burning hot nor overly sweet.

The somlói galuska is made with three different kinds of sponge cake (plain, walnut, and chocolate) and mixed with vanilla cream, apricot preserves and rum raisin. Then it is topped with whipped cream and chocolate syrup.

Is this food connected to the local environment? How?:

The traditional goulash is particularly connected to the environment and has been throughout history.
