This was disappointing to me but I recently read, on Instagram, that the government is starting to build bike lanes in Kosovo, so I hope the next time I am there, I can bike around town. Do you like to bike?
Walking is my favorite way to get around Pristina because I can observe other people and learn where everything is. Plus, the longest I've had to walk to get from point A to B has only been about 25 minutes. While most of the city is easy to walk around in, there are hilly parts that can be a tad challenging. I wouldn't want to drive a car on these hills because a lot of cars here have manual transmission. You've got to be a pretty skilled driver to navigate hills in one of those cars!
I love the bus system in Kosovo! I think I will be taking many trips around the country via bus. The weirdest part about taking the bus here is that you do not have to buy a ticket in advance. I'm not even sure if you can buy a ticket in advance! When you go to the bus station, you find the right bus and just get on! Later on, during the ride, a bus conductor will come around and collect the fare from each passenger. The first time I rode a bus, I felt like I was doing something wrong because I didn't pay anyone before I got on. I'm not sure what would happen if I got on a bus and later realized I didn't have enough money--hopefully a stranger would lend me some!
