Hello! My name is Beverly Lipsey. I am 22 years old and grew up in Arlington, Massachusetts with my two siblings. I have a 16-year-old brother, Noe, and 14-year-old sister, Anabel. I recently graduated from Smith College in Massachusetts where I studied psychology, Spanish and community engagement. I love learning about new places, languages and cultures, especially how different communities grow and cook food.
Whether it was teaching swimming lessons, tutoring math or mentoring students, I have always worked with youth. Inspired by my college peers and friends who would tell me about their lives back home in Korea, China, Malaysia, etc., I wanted to see the world for myself and continue learning and teaching, which led me to apply for the U.S Fulbright English Teaching Assistant (ETA) program in Malaysia.
Come January, I will be moving to Kuala Lumpur (KL) for my ETA orientation before moving to my long-term placement location, which has yet to be revealed to me! I am looking forward to working with secondary school students (where I will be assisting in English classes) and I am especially excited to be sharing the beginning of my journey with an American classroom!
