¡Bonjour! (Hello!) My name is Bhavya Jha, and I am from Memphis, Tennessee. Growing up in Memphis, I loved everything from learning Indian classical Bharatnatyam dance to participating in school activities like mock trial and theater. For college, I attended Georgetown University's School of Foreign Service in Washington, D.C., where I had the opportunity to learn about international relations in our country’s capital.
After college, I joined the Environment, Health, and Safety team at Tesla, an electric car manufacturer. I had the chance to learn about business and Tesla's technology as well. Tesla's mission is to accelerate the world transition to sustainable energy, and I learned a lot about what it is going to take to do that and how.
One area of particular interest to me was the life cycle of lithium-ion batteries. This interest eventually manifested itself in a research project idea. I received a U.S. Fulbright Research Grant through which I will conduct battery research in three places--Belgium, Brussels; Berlin, Germany; London, United Kingdom--over the next nine months. I'm looking forward to going on this journey together with you!
