The weather here is split into three main seasons: rainy season from around December-April, cool/dry season (Malawian "winter") from around May to August, and hot/dry season (Malawian "summer") from around September to November. We are right in the middle of rainy season now so we get heavy tropical rains almost every day! This is especially good for the crops that depend entirely on the rain for water.
Like on a farm, many families will have animals for either food or to breed, so you commonly see goats, chickens, and cows roaming free with kids watching them. Some families also have rabbits or sheep. By my house, I even find wild monkeys occasionally in the trees. I have also seen zebras, giraffes, gazelles and other animals typical to Malawi at a wildlife reserve nearby.
