Number of sunny days this week: 7
What is the air temperature right now in Fahrenheit?: 80
How was the weather this week?:

It looks like the dry season is finally upon us. Unlike a few weeks ago, when gray clouds filled up the sky, any clouds we see now are small, fluffy and white. The sun can feel very hot when you're not in the shade, but luckily, the forest canopy provides lots of protection from the heat when we're out working in the field.

What animals did I see this week? :

In addition to the kinkajous, coatis, capuchin and spider monkeys we were tracking, I started seeing lots of reptiles coming out to soak up the sunshine. Lagartijas (lizards) who were using the sunlight to heat up their bodies would skitter away into the leaves when I came near. I also saw lots of birds of prey, which are always a treat for me as they are some of my favorite animals. I keep a hawk identification guide on my phone because it's fun to figure out what species is soaring above!

What was the coolest thing I saw in nature this week?:

I was really lucky to find a hard-to-spot caecilian along the path in the field. Caecilians are amphibians, like frogs and salamanders, but they look more like giant earthworms because they don't have legs.
