Jugs of drinking water get boated in from the mainland once a week, loaded into the back of a pickup truck and delivered to the water coolers as needed. If we were to buy a bottle of water, it would cost approximately one U.S. dollar.
Taco night was by far my favorite meal of the week. I enjoyed building my own chicken tacos with shredded lettuce, cheese, onions, black beans and guacamole. They were muy delicioso (very delicious). I even gave myself a taste of home by making some carne asada fries. Californians love to dump taco fillings on top of French fries, and I was able to make myself feel like I was back in San Diego by doing just that.
While I was hanging out in the lounge with my friends, my Panamanian pal Jean was playing music off of his phone. His musical choices were all from artists I recognized from back in the United States, like Bruno Mars, Selena Gomez and Beyonce. We had fun singing along to songs we all knew.
I really enjoy photography, but I was hesitant to bring my camera into the forest while it was still raining every day. Now that it has been sunny, I decided to go on a photography hike with my friend Aulden. During our hike, we saw lots of monkeys, which I was very excited to finally be able to photograph.
