Our News

What music did I listen to this week?:

My friend from Costa Rica wanted to show us how to dance meringue (a Latin American partner dance), so we went to a discoteca (dance club) to hear a live band play some classic songs. I wasn't very graceful, as it was my first time dancing meringue, but I smiled the whole time!

What activity was the most fun this week?:

My friends and I had many fun moments, but one of the most pleasant was making breakfast in our hostel. A hostel is like a hotel where each room has multiple bunk beds, so around ten people can share a room. When we woke up in the morning, the hostel staff made pancake batter with chocolate chips and Nutella for us to cook for breakfast.

What did I read this week?:

Panama City has a few newspapers, which I saw being sold on the street. One is called La Presna (which means "The Press"). My Spanish isn't the best, so it was a little above my reading level. I hope to keep up with La Presna online as I keep practicing my Spanish on the island, and maybe I'll understand more in the future.

What games or sports did I play this week?:

When we were returning to the boat dock, my friends and I stopped at a community pool in a small town called Gamboa. We had a race to see who was the fastest swimmer in the pool.
