Brooke's Trip to Galicia

Introduction:

In the beginning of October, I went to Galicia, Spain, for my birthday! Galicia is a part of Spain that is next to the ocean. It is about 6 hours away from where I live. Two of my friends and I drove from Logroño (where I live) all the way across Spain to Galicia to go hiking, explore and try new food. I was really excited to visit because Galicia is known for its yummy seafood!

What food did I try?:

I tried many different types of seafood but my favorite food I tried in Galicia was scallops, called zamburiñas in Spanish. When you order them, the waiter brings them to the table in their shells. You can add a little lemon juice and then eat the scallop right out of its shell. I had never tried scallops this way before, so it was really exciting to try something new! They were delicious, and I would definitely eat them again.

How did I feel when I tried it?:

We tried scallops on the last night of our trip after spending time searching for the best place to try them. We finally found a restaurant overlooking the ocean in a small fishing village along the Galician coast. I was so excited when the scallops arrived at our table! After trying them, I was happy that all of our searching had paid off. They were even better than I expected, and it was the perfect way to end our trip to Galicia.
