They caught the fish right before cooking, and they killed the chickens on the spot! Before arriving at the village, we brought a live chicken as a gift.
I was surprised to see a giant stereo speaker in the village. Just like anywhere else, people here love music! In this village, the locals played a lot of Chinese and Cambodian music. It was upbeat and sounded similar to popular American music with a heavy bass and techno beats. At one point, they played a Chinese remix of a song by Rihanna.
The most fun activity this week was taking pictures and videos of all of the new places that I visited. I can't wait to share all of these with you all!
This week, I read a lot about Ankgor culture. I wanted to learn about the Ankgor empire before my visit to Ankgor Wat, the largest religious complex in the world.
This week, I paddled! Each morning, we would begin paddling between 7:00-8:00 AM and continue until 5:00-6:00 PM. We took small breaks in between, which was about every couple of hours. It is a mental and physical test to paddle all day. You can't look at your phone, talk to other people or get off the water. It was gruelling, but in the end, it felt amazing to have accomplished the 130 km paddle.
