So Long, Explorers!

Rather, we can and should engage with all of our surroundings, from the trees that line our walks to the buildings we pass through every day. One of the things I love most about studying ecology is that it makes me more conscious of how people, plants and animals all interact within our environment. Throughout my day, I strive to notice those interactions.  This makes me a more curious scientist and fuels the questions that drive my work. In addition, being observant helps me to be more appreciative of little things, whether it’s a newly-bloomed flower or an afternoon spent reading in the park.

I hope that the thoughts and stories I’ve shared from Australia inspire you to conquer your fears, to embrace your passions, and to care for the people, places, and creatures that make up your environment. I know that I’m inspired by the curiosity and excitement about the world that I’ve seen in all of you, and I am so excited to hear about all the wonderful things that you’ll grow up to achieve. So long, explorers, and safe travels in the future!
