Invasive Plants and Conservation in Australia

Agencies such as the National Parks and Wildlife Service rely on volunteers to help remove invasive species. In addition, individuals have a responsibility to follow biosecurity laws. When I first entered Australia, for example, I had to fill out a form and declare if I had anything like fruit or seeds from outside of the country, which could unintentionally introduce pests or diseases. Average people can also choose to grow more native plants in their gardens instead of introduced species. Are there invasive species growing near you? What impacts do they have on your environment and community, and how might you address those impacts?
