Hi, 2X'ers! I'm Camille, and whether it be waist-deep in marsh mud or covered in lemur poop, I am happiest when I am dirty. I was born and raised in Boston, MA. When I was your age, I would adventure in salt marshes with my younger brother and twin sister around the outskirts of the city.
My fascination with nature continued! It inspired me to study something called "integrative biology." I also did a minor in environmental science and public policy at Harvard University. Finally, I took classes in Spanish and Malagasy languages. Do you speak Spanish - or Malagasy? Outside of my research, I love swimming, hiking, and reading.
During my time at Harvard, I became very interested in tropical ecology. Can you guess what that means? I then became interested in exploring tropical places, including Suriname, Madagascar, Bangladesh and Brazil. I spent the past three summers in Madagascar, researching biodiversity conservation! My main project investigated how an invasive plant species impacts the rainforest, and how lemurs spread this species.
I am now a Fulbright Student Researcher! I am living in Guayaquil, Ecuador, where I am investigating carbon dynamics of mangrove forests. I am excited for a year of research, exploration, and learning together!
Ms. Beeny and Ms. King have invited me to share my journey with you this fall. Let's have an adventure together, 2X! I can't wait to meet you soon!
