Hi students, our weekly encounters are coming to an end. I will miss them (and you!). I’d like to end my journey with some encouraging words for those of you who are thinking about what’s next. Trust me, we rarely ever know!

Since I was a kid I remember being in love with animals. In my family, there are three biologists, one veterinarian and one former environmental police officer. So, I’ve always looked up to them and believe their passions have inspired me. Maybe spending my childhood helping my aunt, who is a vet, to wash our dogs helped me explore my own curiosity and interests.

When I was in high school, I thought I wanted to be a veterinarian because I’ve always liked animals. I tried to get into veterinary school a few times and did not succeed. One year, I decided to expand my choices a little bit and applied for the biology program. I was accepted right away and I never regretted that decision, even though it was not planned! We are very young to define who we want to be by the time we’re applying for university. I can guarantee you there’s nothing wrong with trying new things, making mistakes and learning from them. I have made many mistakes before but it has helped me learn and grow into the explorer I am today.
