Hola a todos! (Hi, everyone!). My name is Carlyn Harris. I am 23 years old and grew up in the desert of Phoenix, Arizona, home to scorpions, rattlesnakes and the Saguaro cactus! I went to college at Arizona State University where I studied microbiology and global health. I was very interested in antibiotic resistance and even traveled the globe (six countries in three months!) to talk to people about it for my honors thesis. After college, I left the USA to move to Edinburgh, Scotland to get my Master of Public Health and wrote my masters dissertation on clinical research of Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome and Middle East Respiratory Syndrome. My passion is in the field of infectious disease, especially studying how to stop outbreaks like Ebola, measles, flu and more!
I am here in Panama studying Hantavirus as a Fulbright U.S. Student Researcher. In my free time, I love to run, hike, travel and practice salsa dancing! I cannot wait to share with you my adventure in Panama and hear all about your school year. Nos vemos pronto (See you soon)!
