My name is Caroline, and I am 24 years old. I grew up in Minneapolis, Minnesota, and I went to college at Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tennessee. I've always loved playing ice hockey, soccer and golf, and, starting in second grade, I knew I enjoyed teaching. I would come home after school with extra worksheets and books so I could teach my stuffed animals all the lessons I'd learned that day. My focus of study at Vanderbilt was elementary education, so I am a certified teacher. I'm thrilled that this year in Malaysia I'll be teaching real students, rather than my stuffed animals.
In addition to playing sports and teaching, I love spending time with family and friends. Since graduating college, I've lived in London and New York, so some of my favorite hobbies involve exploring these big cities, attending concerts, seeing musicals at the theater, trying new restaurants and taking long walks. This past summer in New York, I also played on a street hockey team!
Beyond teaching, I'm looking forward to being in Malaysia because it is a fascinating country in a rapidly developing part of the world. The country has people from many different religions, ethnicities, and cultures--just like the U.S.! Malaysia is sometimes called, "the Melting Pot of Asia." In addition to the exciting mix of people, the country boasts various geographies: rain forests, beaches, cities, and mountains. I can't wait to explore them all and share the experience with you!
