It has been just over six months since my plane touched down in Frankfurt. It was my first step to beginning my teaching assistantship in beautiful southwestern Germany, and the months spent here since have simply flown by. In my first week, I already traveled around nearby cities, met new friends and put my German language to the test. The number of accomplishments I have had the joy of uncovering since then are truly countless. Last spring, when I was still awaiting a final decision on my Fulbright application, I never could have imagined the extent to everything I have had the chance to learn and experience.

At this point, I still have about three months left to live and work in Germersheim. Watching the time left slowly dwindle can be a little scary, but it is also very exciting. I still have time to discover some new experiences, but my return home is also in sight. I will miss a lot about living here: the warmer weather, the accessibility of the train and bus systems, the kind people and the creative language. However, there are many things I have begun to miss about the United States, too, that I will be glad to have the chance to enjoy again. Free water and bathrooms just being a couple!
