Traveler Bio

Hi, my name is Cassandra (or Cass), and I’m 23 years old. I grew up in Lakeville, Minnesota, where I’ve lived most of my life. I’m an only child, but I share my home back in the U.S. with two beloved pets—a cat and a dog.

In college, I studied German and International Studies. I love learning languages and traveling, and I’ve studied American Sign Language and German, with a little bit of French and Spanish as well. My travels have taken me to Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, Ireland, and Honduras. During my second year of college, I studied abroad in Germany, living with a host family in the northwest, where I experienced daily life on the farms of that region. Because of the Covid-19 pandemic, I wasn’t able to meet many people outside of my classes and homestay, but it was still an experience that shaped my path forward.

Now, I’ve returned to Germany as a teaching assistant, and I’m so excited to live more independently, meet new people, and continue exploring this beautiful country. I arrived in Germersheim, in southwestern Germany, on Sunday, September 7. Germersheim is a medium-sized town, though the high school where I work is in a very rural area. This region is famous for its winemaking, and I’ve already begun to experience its rich culture and history.
