In my community, many of the foods prepared for birthdays come from what people grow locally, like potatoes, corn and, of course, cuy. Because people rely on what is available around them, the meals and celebrations reflect the land and the seasons.
I’ve also noticed that celebrations often take place at home or outdoors, using the space and resources people already have. Instead of buying everything, families prepare food together and use what is available in their community. This shows how the environment shapes not just what people eat, but how they celebrate and spend time together.
