Everything about the palace, including the location, was the result of thoughtful planning. This attention to detail reminded me of my time at Machu Picchu, where the structual integrity of the buildings means they are still standing over 500 years later. Gyeongbokgung is thought to be over 600 years old. One can only imagine how the palace looked in its heyday!
