The purpose of the two-day meeting is to follow-up on North Korea's denuclearization following Trump's failed negotiations with Kim in Hanoi in late February, featured in my last logbook.
South Korea is playing quite the pivotal mediator in the North Korea and U.S. relationship. Looking at the world map, you will find that South Korea's geographical location is disadvantageous. Even though South Korea is a successful and powerful country in its own right, it is surrounded by three greater powers, China, Japan, and Russia. Thus, the ability to be a good diplomat to maintain relations is a sought after trait in South Korean politics. Let's hope that the talks will lead to ways that can better the relations with every party involved.
