Taiwan's climate is subtropical, characterized by long, hot and humid summers, with short and mild winters. Growing up in Charlottesville, one of my favorite natural phenomena was the changing of the leaves in the fall. It's one of the aspects of home that I truly miss. Although leaves change color and fall in Taiwan as well, it wasn't until this week that I noticed it for the first time. During my commute home from work, I observed the leaves falling in my neighborhood, and it was one of those special moments where you forget where you are in the world and simply appreciate nature at work.
Some exciting news for food lovers is that it's currently strawberry season in Taiwan. Many strawberries are grown in the northern region called Taoyuan, which is conveniently close to Taipei. So, many restaurants and shaved ice cream places offer strawberries as their seasonal fruit! What is your favorite fruit? P.S. Taoyuan is also where the biggest international airport is located, so if you ever visit Taiwan, you are likely to fly here!
