I love how convenient and affordable it is to travel around the city. The cost of each trip depends on the distance of your commute, but it's often less than $1 for each ride. The part I enjoy the most, besides its cleanliness and convenience, is the ability to buy quirky-designed Metro cards. There are many options available at convenience stores with cute designs, characters from your favorite shows or even keychains!
Taipei 101 is a super famous place in Taipei. I can tell you more about it in a later article. But first, let me tell you about this awesome thing I saw near Taipei 101. It was a machine that made cotton candy and designed it too! I had to try it right away. I've never seen anything like it back home in the U.S. Taiwan has a lot of cool technology, especially in making computer chips. I love finding neat vending machines and other cool machines they use every day here.
I hope to have more exciting stories to share, but as of right now, the spring semester just started. Unlike in the U.S., where our winter vacation is in December, Taiwanese students have their winter break in the two weeks surrounding the Lunar New Year. This year, our break was from January 27 to February 16, so we just started school again! I'm excited for the new semester with the students!
