I started learning Spanish at the start of university, so I will be going into my third year of learning Spanish now.
No, my host family does not have any pets.
Yes, I have been able to travel to many places.
Within Spain: Valencia, Tenerife (Canary Islands), Mérida, Cáraces, Zaragoza, Santiago de Compostela, and Léon.
Outside of Spain: Brussels, Belguim; Copenhagen, Denmark; Malmo, Sweden; Many cities in Morocco; London, United Kingdom.
The lifestyle in Spain is very different from that in the United States. It is more relaxed and emphasizes a work-life balance. Given this, many of my classes do not have homework; instead, they emphasize in-class participation to hone our learning. The only class I have homework in is Spanish, as it is necessary to continue practicing even outside the classroom to improve my language skills.
Studying abroad has taught me how important it is to say "yes!" There have been many times that I've been hesitant to try new things, whether it's food, travel, or opportunities, but these chances to step out of my comfort zone have allowed me to learn so much.
