The pandas' presence fostered a reflective and tranquil atmosphere, underscoring the delicate balance between human activity and the natural world. This encounter not only provided visual delight but also reinforced my commitment to supporting and advocating for the preservation of endangered species. The experience was both intellectually stimulating and emotionally resonant, leaving a lasting impact on my perspective towards wildlife conservation.
I also wrote a small poem for a Fulbright contest about the pandas in the Taipei Zoo. It uses Taiwanese poem traditions, such as emphasizing nature:
I saw a panda bear, he's so cute,
Sitting on the grass, eating a bamboo chute.
I see a panda bear, each ear is a tiny nub,
Piles of fresh fruit and bamboo beside him, Taiwan gives him lots of love.
In the Taipei Zoo, beneath the sun's bright ray,
Munching happily, in his gentle way.
Black and white fur, a sight to behold,
In harmony with nature, so pure and bold.
From distant lands, people flock to see,
The panda bear's gentle gaze, bridging you and me.
In his panda eyes, a world's reflection,
Cultures united, a global connection.
The Giant Panda House features a variety of elements that cater to the pandas' physical and psychological well-being. It includes spacious indoor and outdoor areas equipped with climbing structures, resting platforms, and plenty of bamboo, their primary diet.
