I have also traveled to see some pieces that are not as famous but even more important to the research I do, such as my trip to Mantova to see the pieces commissioned by Isabella d'Este. These are experiences I will take back with me to the United States that will help inspire and fuel my current projects!
As I start packing to go home, I have time to reflect on how amazing the last few weeks have been. I was terrified to come, and in the days leading up to my departure I did not want to leave the United States. All of it was very scary, living somewhere where my first language is not the most spoken language, where the food is new and the weather is different was terrifying! However, since arriving in Italy I have not regretted it for a second. Every moment has been an experience I would not trade for anything. I have seen more art here than I could have ever imagined and learned so much about it, in my classes, in museums and just even walking down the streets of neighborhoods. I have had many conversations with locals in both Italian and English, and I have tried so many amazing new foods!
I want to continue to explore the world after this! Now that I have done it once, it feels so much less scary. The world is a vast place, and you could spend many lifetimes exploring it. I hope you all feel similarly after talking about Italy and the other places I have traveled to. Traveling can be very scary, but it is a well-worth-it adventure! Studying abroad allows you to adventure with some guidance and further your educational interests!
