I've always heard about them, but you really can't understand how big they are until you see them up close. Some of them are as big as a skyscraper, and we even saw an iceberg in the distance that was almost the size of the island of Manhattan! 85% of an iceberg is underwater, which means the huge blocks I saw were even bigger than that!

I had never realized that penguins live in the ocean--I thought they lived on land and went into the water to eat fish. But it turns out this isn't true, and penguins spend up to eight months in the water at a time! In Antarctica, you can see them jumping out of the water (or porpoising) all over the place!
