Animals and Nature in Antarctica

Where does it live?:

All animals in Antarctica live in harmony with the ice and water. Even penguins spend eight months of the year in the sea, and seals come up onto the ice to sunbathe or to hide from whales. Most of the birds migrate to Antarctica in the summer and spend the winter someplace warmer.

How does it use its environment to survive?:

Since most animals are clumsy on land and graceful in the water, land is kind of a neutral zone. Penguins and seals all exist together on land, but when they go in the water, it's open season.

What can harm this creature or plant? Are we worried about it?:

The most deadly animal is the orca, and they're smart enough to know how to get an animal off the ice. They'll all swim next to each other towards the ice, and then dive at the last second. This creates a wave that knocks the animal over into the water where they can be eaten!

Luckily, orcas have never been documented killing a human in the wild.
