Because it's so lush, and there are so many volcanoes, the soil in Costa Rica is very rich. This means it grows a lot of really delicious fruit and food, and people can live off of not very much land. Since it rains so much, there's less of a need to conserve water, so taps and showers in the country put out a lot of water. You can actually fill a pot of pasta in just a few seconds. Try that with an American faucet!
With Costa Rica being such a wild (and rainy!) country, the roads aren't very good. There are a lot of potholes, which are hard to fix because everything is quite remote with little infrastructure. When you drive between towns at night, it can be blacker than the darkest night you've ever seen because there's no street lamps anywhere. Additionally, since there isn't much industry, prices can be high with so many things needing to be imported.
Costa Rica loves its environment and is doing a lot to save it. Along with France and the United Kingdom, Costa Rica has co-chaired an initiative known as "30x30," which seeks to reserve permanent conservation for 30 percent of all coastline and land in the world by 2030. Scientists have suggested that this will be an incredibly important step to fighting climate change and protecting species from going extinct.
