"Class starts at 8:30, but we get to school at seven to clean the school. Class ends at four, but I don't go home then. I have basketball after school. I go home at five, then go to cram school."
Wow, that's a long day! When do you get home from school?
"I walk to school. It is not far. I can go by myself. Some kids ride on their parents' scooters or ride a bike to school."
Since our town is so small, most kids either walk or get dropped off via a scooter. No big yellow bus here!
"I eat lunch in my classroom. My favorite lunch meal is braised beef with vegetables."
School lunch is provided every day, and it is totally delicious!
"I speak Chinese in school and practice with you [Colin] in English. 'Ni Hao' is how you say hello in Chinese."
Many students love to practice English and will come to my room to practice in their free time.
"Common English names for boys are Alex, Dan, Peter, and Ian. For girls, Rita, Dora, Sandy, and Tina are common."
Every student here in school is given an English name in class, just like in Spanish class back home kids are given Spanish names.
