Traveler Bio

Hello, my name is Daisy Gonzalez and I grew up in Union City, New Jersey. I grew up as the second oldest of four but am the first to go to a four-year college. I am 21 years old and am currently a senior at Montclair State University studying computer science.

When I was young I loved learning about different cultures and countries. It was then that I decided that I wanted to travel and study abroad during college. I choose to study in South Korea because of my career. South Korea is among the world's most technologically advanced countries. Apart from learning more about the culture, I wanted to be in a place where I could learn about the technological progress in other countries. I am so fortunate to be able to go abroad and a large reason is due to the Gilman Scholarship.

Want to know more about how you can study or intern abroad when you are a college student? The Benjamin A. Gilman International Scholarship Program is a program of the U.S. Department of State with funding provided by the U.S. Government and supported in its implementation by the Institute of International Education (IIE).
