Today I will be showing you what I have been eating so far in Ecuador!
I tried a plate of food which contained rice, steak, French fries, fried plantains, salad and two sunny side-up eggs! This plate seems to be extremely popular in all of the restaurants that I have visited. At the first restaurant in Otavalo where I tried it for the first time, the dish was known as "Jack Daniels". In Quito, the dish usually consisted of lomo (beef strips), rice, French fries, potatoes, salad and one sunny side-up egg. I wonder if this dish is popular throughout Ecuador, since I have had it twice already during my stay.
Eating this dish was amazing! Not only did I receive so many food items on one plate, but it all tasted good and cost only $5.00, including a bottle of water. The meat is well seasoned, which I loved! Vegetables are very popular here, too. On every plate I order, I am given some kind of greens, including brocoli, lettuce and beets. Afterwards, I felt very full. The idea of eating a whole meal and feeling satisifed afterwards is great!
