¡Bienvenidos! (Greetings)! My name is Danielle. I am 29 years old and currently live in Merced, California. Growing up in California, I loved heading to the beach, visiting Yosemite National Park and walking across the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco. In college, I headed to Santa Barbara to study Gender Studies and Global Studies in the College of Letters and Science. I then went to graduate school in Merced. For my Master's thesis, I studied the importance of indigenous rights and collective memory for women in El Salvador. Eager to share the skills I acquired while studying in graduate school, I applied for and was fortunate enough to earn a Fulbright U.S. Student Program Study/Research Grant for my Ph.D. program to study the impact of La Matanza of 1932 on Nahua communities and the pursuit of human rights for indigenous peoples in El Salvador. Currently, I am completing my doctoral program, and enjoy playing with my dog Bibi. I am excited to share my experiences with you all and cannot wait to hear about your journeys through the academic school year! Sujsul padiush! Thank you very much!
