It's pretty good when eaten in small doses!
The pavlova meringue is made by beating eggs until they form stiff peaks, gradually adding sugar, lemon juice, and other ingredients to make the beaten eggs firm enough to form into the shape of a cake. After you bake it. you add some whipped cream and fruit on top. Finally you add sweet bread crumbs all over to add a nice satisfying crunch to what would otherwise be a giant marshmallow.
I wouldn't say that it's connected to the environment, but it's definitely seasonal. In Australia, Christmas is celebrated during the summer, and since pavlova is usually served chilled, it provides an escape from what would usually be a hot and muggy Christmas day.
