When I began traveling, I was 10 years old. My parents encouraged me to meet the rest of my family in Mexico. On that trip, I was able to see how similar and different it was from back home in California. I also learned about my family and culture in Mexico. It was such a wonderful experience that encouraged me to keep traveling.

In Mexico, I tried lots of food in the markets and saw many beautiful locations. For example, I went to see the pyramids of Teotihuacan. At Teotihuacan, there are two big pyramids, the Sun and the Moon. People are allowed to climb the Sun pyramid. Since I was traveling, I didn't have to do any school work related to the destination, but I still learned so much!

This trip encouraged me to try studying abroad, which is when you travel and take classes at the same time. Lots of schools have study abroad programs. At my school, for example, there is an office called "Overseas and Off-Campus Programs” that can help you decide where to study abroad, what classes to take and other details. Students can study abroad for a semester (which is about four months) or for a whole year.

For my study abroad experience, I am going to Morocco.
