How Does Water Collection Work?

Introduction:

Water is very important for every living thing. We all need water to live! Sometimes getting water can be hard. People have come up with many ways of collecting water. It all depends on the geography of the land.

What community need did I learn about?:

Morocco's geography is very diverse. Some parts of the country have tall, snowy mountains, and other areas are a desert. Each area has its own way of collecting water.

Why does the community have this need?:

The communities have this need because everyone uses a lot of water. For example, we use water to shower, to clean and cook our food and to drink. Farmers use water to grow crops and to take care of their animals.

Is this need being met? How?:

It is really hard to get water because Morocco relies on rain. Climate change has made it harder to find water here. Communities have to work within their environments.

For example, a community in the desert might get creative by digging really deep to find water. Once they find the water, they build a well so they can get water when they need it. Another example is a community that lives near a river. They can guide the river to where they want it to go by putting rocks on certain parts of the river.
