Israeli Food

The Levant has been the home to dozens of countries across thousands of years, including Canaan, Judea, Phoenicia, Palestine and, of course, Israel. The names and rulers might have changed, but one thing will never change about this land: Levantine people love dips. They love dips so much! You’ve probably heard of some of them: baba ghanoush, fattoush, labneh, tabbouleh, tahini, toum, malfouf and -- most famously and my favorite -- hummus. Hummus (hoo-moose), is my absolute favorite snack food. I eat far too much of it, but it never gets old! My usual snack arrangement is a tub of hummus and some mini bageleh (a cross between a bagel and a pretzel) to dip. You can dip anything in hummus. What's your favorite thing to dip?

These are just a small part of what makes Israeli food Israeli. Let me know if you have any questions about any of the dishes I mentioned, or if you’ve tried any of these foods!
