Shalom aleichem (hello everyone)! My name is Doron, which sounds like "dough-r-own" when spoken aloud, but most people call me D. I am 22 years old and have proudly lived in Connecticut, the Constitution State, for 18 of those years. I spent the other four years at the University of Pittsburgh in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, where I studied the History and Philosophy of Science, or HPS for short. I learned all about what science is, what it is not, how to properly do research, how scientists got all of the tools and techniques they use today, and, most importantly, how to use science to make the world a better place. I also studied computer science, but I knew that I did not want to code for the rest of my life. I wanted to make sure other computer scientists were using their knowledge for good and not for themselves.
That's why I applied for a Fulbright Grant to study Cyber Politics and Government at Tel Aviv University in Israel. I am learning all about how people use computers and other cyber-tools to shape the world around us, and how I can help make sure that new technologies are being used safely and not recklessly. Outside of class, I am planning on exploring as much of Israel as I possibly can. I cannot wait to share my travels to places like Jerusalem, the Dead Sea, Caesarea, and the Negev desert with all of you, and I cannot wait to answer all of the questions you have for me! Talk to you then, and shalom aleichem (it means goodbye too)!
