Jeju Island is one of South Korea's most popular tourist destinations. It is famous for its waterfalls, volcanoes and the tallest mountain in South Korea, Mount Hallasan.
When I went to Jeju Island, I found out that there also many different types of oranges that vendors sell at the traditional markets. The most popular type is the hallabong, also known as the dekopon in some regions. Let's learn about the hallabong orange!
Even though the hallabong is the same color as the navel orange, the most common orange in the United States, it has many differences. The texture of the hallabong orange is more rough and it looks unique because it has a protruding bump at the top.
When I saw the hallabong orange, I wondered if the taste was different from the navel orange. The first thing I wanted to do was try it. When I did try it, I found out that it was very, very sweet! I think it was less sour than a regular orange. It reminded me of a sweet candy.
