As my journey here in Ecuador comes to an end, I have been reflecting on my time here. I came into this country not knowing what to expect. I felt nervous to be on my own here and nervous to have to speak in a different language all the time. However, it did not take me long to adjust to the norms here in Ecuador. I have become familiar with the country, its people and its food, and now it is hard to leave!
I am so thankful that I got explore all of the different regions that this country has to offer. On the coast, I learned to cope with the daily heat and went to a couple of the beautiful beaches to cool down. I lived the fast-paced lifestyle of the second biggest city here in Ecuador and learned the importance of going with the flow. In the highlands, I got to hike to the top of an active volcano. I felt like I was on top of the world! I settled into the relaxed atmosphere of the cities in the highlands, which taught me how to not always be in such a rush. Here, the cool weather and nice breeze was perfect for strolling around. In the rainforest, I got to meet with native tribes of Ecuador. I got to be a part of their culture and their different way of living. From them, I learned about the importance of taking care of the earth and how it provides us with everything we need.
